The Wildlife Conservation Society of Tanzania (WCST) is a non-governmental and non-profit making, membership civil Society Organization: established in 1988 with the aim of conserving Tanzania’s flora, fauna and the environment in general. WCST is the Birdlife International Partner Organization in Tanzania and has a special interest in birds. The WCST's head quarter is in Dar es Salaam at Garden Avenue, plot No.39. The branch offices are in Morogoro at Pamba house opposite postal office and another in Arusha at the National Museum in the old German Boma. National Activities Since its founding over twenty years ago, WCST has been involved in a wide array of conservation activities at the Local and National levels. These include environmental education and recreational activities such as bird walks; forest conservation in places such as the Eastern Arch and coastal forests; conservation policy including a prominent role in advocating for the original international ban on ivory trade in 1989; and conservation of important bird habitats in Tanzania.
