Wildlife Conservation Society of Tanzania (WCST) is a membership based organization established in 1988 and registered as a civil society conservation organization. The core business of the Society is promotion, protection and participation in the sustainable management of Natural resources and the environment. Its major goal is to ensure that biodiversity is well managed and conserved for the benefit of present and future generations.
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
The Society has the following different categories of membership; Student membership
This consists of two groups
- Students at primary school level
- Students at secondary school level
Students may form a wildlife club in their schools. Ordinary membership
This comprises people from all walks of life. A member under this category can be a villager or a city dweller, a peasant or civil servants, a young or an elderly person. What brings them together is the sense of their interest in protecting and conserving Tanzania’s natural resources. Supporting membership
These are members who are willing to pay more for the conservation of our natural resources and environment than the previous categories. Educational institutions
This category consists of education institutions and libraries Overseas membership
Individuals living outside Tanzania Corporate membership
This category comprises two groups
- Ordinary corporate members
- Special corporate members
This consists of Companies, Parastatal Organizations, Travel Agents, Tour Operators, Conservation NGO’s, universities, etc. Overseas corporate members
This consist of companies, Parastatal organizations, Travel Agents, Tour Operators, Conservation NGO’s etc. from outside Tanzania Life membership of two groups
This consists of two groups
- Ordinary life member
- Support life member
These are members living in or outside Tanzania. Prominent donor member
Those willing to donate something extra for conservation
